Good Dad Studios–a new studio complex in Austin, TX–opens its doors to the public for both weekends of the East Austin Studio Tour. Join us on Saturday November 11th (4pm-10pm) for the official Grand Opening Party! This emerging arts studio complex houses over 80 artists' studios and plans to expand with three art galleries, several food truck options, and an exterior industrial studio space. For their Grand Opening on November 11th (4pm-10pm), Good Dad Studios will be hosting a group show of community artists, 80+ open studios, complimentary drinks, music, and over 40 different artists pop ups throughout the 42,000 sq ft building space. On the final Sunday of the tour, November 19th at 7:00 pm, Good Dad Studios will host a panel discussion with art community figures exploring the old and new Austin art scenes, and ways in which the community can move forward together.

The inherent cultural and economic value of artists’ spaces is no secret, and the creation of Good Dad Studios reasserts that successful art communities are an integral part of successful urban landscapes. Located in an old, 1970s office building, Good Dad Studios embraces the vintage aesthetic of the existing interior space while simultaneously breathing new life into the building. Conceptually, this is a tribute to the history of the spaces that came before us, honoring the Keep Austin Weird mantra so often repeated.
